Watch the Kardashians Try to Explain What Kanye West’s ‘Sunday Service’ Actually Is

Three of the Kardashians sisters (Kourtney, Khloe and Kim, who is married to Kanye West) were recently guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and they attempted to explain the vision of Kanye’s “Sunday Services.”

Videos from the recent Sunday morning gatherings show the hip-hop star leading a choir in gospel music, and have even showed a passionate prayer by rapper DMX.

Kimmel asked them directly if Kanye had started a church. Kim said, “We didn’t really have a name for it because it’s more just like a healing experience.”

Though they repeatedly emphasized that is it a Christian event, Kim said, “there’s no sermon, there’s no word; it’s just music.”

“It’s really uplifting and you feel excellent,” Khloe said. “We have so many friends who maybe feel a little too judgmental when they go to church. When they come here they feel so free and safe, it’s what everybody says, and you have a great time. It’s a beautiful way to start your week.” (The portion of the interview starts at about 10:25.)

It was recently announced that Kanye would be hosting a Sunday Service on Easter Sunday morning at Coachella.

In a recent interview with Elle, Kim said that the Sunday Services are inspired by her husband’s faith. She said, “This will be my first time ever going to Coachella, and I’m so excited to be a part of it for the first time. And [the church], it’s honestly more like a healing experience for my husband. It’s just music; there’s no sermon. It’s definitely something he believes in—Jesus—and there’s a Christian vibe. But there’s no preaching. It’s just a very spiritual Christian experience.

She also said that people from all faiths are welcome. “Kourtney’s best friends comes all the time and they’re Muslim,” she said. “All my Jewish friends came on Sunday; they loved it. Everyone that comes understands it’s just a really healing experience with an amazing choir, and amazing messages about love to start off your week.”
