No word on who exactly told Pope Benedict about Twitter, but they did, he wanted on board, and, next thing you know, you’ve got @Pontifex on Twitter. Signs of the times. The Vatican says that there will be no ghost Tweets—everything will be quoted directly from the Pope’s own mouth (although they’ll be typed out by aides, so that ought to be a fun job for someone). The first few tweets will be replies to questions sent via hashtag #askpontifex and, from then on out, it’ll be at his leisure. Still no Pope Pinterest, though …
