Lupe Fiasco. who’s been fairly vocal (and, in our interview with him, very vocal) about his dissatisfaction with President Barack Obama, was nevertheless invited to play a set at a private inaugural party. What exactly happened there is a little bit dependent on who you ask, but the long and short of it is that Fiasco got a trifle carried away and was escorted offstage. There were some people saying he launched into an anti-Obama rant mid-set, while concert organizers said he was behaving erratically. He certainly played a 30-minute anti-war song, which certainly sounds erratic. Either way, he was asked to maybe move onto another song since a half-hour song seemed a little indulgent. He refused, the audience got unhappy, and that was that. “Lupe Fiasco was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant,'” said concert organizers. “We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act” …
