A very sad story about a very heroic young man has emerged from Pakistan today. 15-year-old Aitzaz Hassan has hanging outside his school with some friends when he saw a man with a suicide vest approaching the school. Aitzaz lives in the northwestern district of Hangu, which has been plagued by suicide bombers, and Aitzaz doubtless knew a terrorist when he saw one. Despites protests from his friends, Aitzaz determined that he was going to stop the bomber. He ran to the terrorist and had tackled him when the bomb went off, killing them both but saving the school.
“My cousin sacrificed his life saving his school and hundreds of students and school fellows,” Mudassar Hassan Bangish told reporters. Aitzaz’s father expressed deep pride, saying “My son made his mother cry, but saved hundreds of mothers from crying for their children” …
