At the Clinton Global Initiative on Tuesday, President Barack Obama announced new initiatives to step up America’s efforts in the domestic fight against human trafficking. Bolstering the preexisting Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, his new comprehensive strategy will coordinate the efforts of more enforcement partners, strengthen resources for victims of trafficking and inaugurate new measures to track and monitor trafficking occurring within the U.S.

He said: “Our fight against human trafficking is one of the great human rights causes of our time, and the United States will continue to lead it.”
Obama also spoke about modern-day slavery in the U.S., from child sex slaves to migrant workers who have their documents taken from them.
He said: “Last year we charged a record number of predators with human trafficking… We are going to do more to spot it and stop it.”
