Disaster Relief Groups Are Poised to Pick Up the Pieces After Hurricane Sandy

As Hurricane Sandy churns over the Mid-Atlantic coast, government officials and disaster relief organizations alike are sending the same message to civilians in evacuation zones: Be smart, be safe and get out. World Vision is one of the disaster relief organizations poised to deliver aid when the storm hits. At their New York City and Washington, D.C. bases, workers are busily packing emergency kits and the organization has said children will be given priority in relief services. In this time of crisis, relief groups are encouraging monetary donations (as opposed to food and clothing donations) and hand-to-hand help to any and all neighbors in need.

From the article:

“Hurricane Sandy could be one of the most devastating storms we’ve responded to in decades,” said Phyllis Freeman, World Vision’s Domestic Disaster Director. “We’re asking our supporters to pray that the impact isn’t as severe as some forecasters are predicting but World Vision is prepared to respond if we do see the worst.”
