Busy week here at RELEVANT. Here’s the latest:
RELEVANT magazine: Next week our September issue goes to the printer. While that’s usually enough to keep us on our toes, it’s just one of many things going on at the same time this week. I’m actually personally more involved in this issue than any other because, on top of my column, I’m also writing a feature about my trip to Rwanda. Of course, it’s now the last possible moment and I’m going to have a busy weekend of writing.
A sneak peek for those of you reading this blog, we’re internally discussing two options for the cover of the September issue. (Yes, it’s usual that we’re considering all options until the last possible moment.) The first choice is that we have an amazing interview with Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst. The second is a politically themed cover centered around a 2008 voters guide (and yes, both Obama and McCain talked to us). Both articles are in the issue, the question I have is — what will make the most compelling cover and jump off the newsstand? I can’t show you the two cover options just yet (they’re still being worked on), but I’d love to hear your first impression of which would carry more appeal. Post comments below …
Podcast: The next podcast is in the can and features an interview with author Mark Steele. Next week will feature a live performance by Brandon Heath, and the week after that will have an interview with filmmaker Dan Merchant (who’s featured in the current issue). When we bring it, we bring it!
RELEVANTmagazine.com: THE DROP IS BACK. It’s our amazing little player where we stream new music for free. We’re kicking it off the right way with the entire new album from our friends Seabird. Trust me, you’ll love it. And check back weekly, because we’re going to keep adding great new tunes.
Neue: We’re in the final stages of our Neue Ministry website. (For now, all the Neue stuff can be checked out at NeueResources.com.) We’re aligning with some amazing partners to make Neue a website like no other. It’s launching August 1 …
RELEVANT Solutions: Our client/design branch is busy! There was an industry trade show in town this week, so we had a great chance to connect with many industry friends. Big ups to Chris Estes, Steve Brewster, Erik Thrasher, Tom Dean, Melinda VanKirk and the Zondervan team. It’s always fun. We’re in the final stages of a big interactive launch we’ve been working on for Wiley/Jossey-Bass. We’ll make sure to let you guys know when it launches next week.
