
Toni Christina Jenkins is a hardworking 19-year-old who waits tables at a Red Lobster in Tennessee. A few weeks ago, after a group of customers she waited on finished their meal, she found that they written a horrible racial slur on their receipt instead of a tip. After posting a picture of the hateful note on her Facebook page, a man named Matthew Hanson heard about the story and decided that Jenkins deserved an actual tip. He set up an online fundraising page without her knowledge, and within just a few days, people donated more than $10,000. Hanson said “It was about sending a message to racists that Americans aren’t going to tolerate that.” After receiving the check for $10,759, Jenkins said, “I was just so thankful.
