American Anchor Quits Russian State TV on Air Over Pro-Kremlin Message

An American anchor for a state-owned television network called “Russia Today” quit her job on the air yesterday, explaining that the network “whitewashes the actions of Putin.” Liz Wahl was a reporter and anchor working in the Washington D.C. bureau office of RT, where she told The Daily Beast that management punishes employees who stray from the pro-Kremlin message. (One of their recent stories told how “Self-defense force ranks swell in anticipation of Crimea showdown with radicals” in “reporting” about the invasion of the region.) During her on-air resignation, she said, “I’m proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth, and that is why, after this newscast, I am resigning.” Wahl told TDB, “It actually makes me feel sick that I worked there … I just think it’s absurd that we’re just a few blocks away from the White House and this is all able to go along” …
