A New Poll Has Determined Americans’ Ideal Age (Hint: It’s Probably Not Yours)

If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

A survey has found most Americans believe the “sweet spot” in life is right in their mid-30s. Specifically, the ideal age to be frozen in time is 36 years old.

If you break it down by physical health, the average answer was 29. If you’re talking wisdom, most people said 51. But overall, in terms of peak quality of life, Americans say they’d like to be 36 forever.

It makes sense: Thirty-six is young enough to still want to do stuff and (hopefully) not feel creaky all the time, but old enough to have experience and (maybe) some financial stability.

The poll, which was conducted by OnePoll covering 2,000 people, also found that four in 10 people would not go back to their 20s. So, if you’re in your 20s and stressed out about life right now, apparently that’s normal and older generations don’t envy you at all.

But if you’re over 36, we are sorry to inform you that most of the public believes your best year is behind you. Prove them wrong?
