Chick-fil-A Announces New Fried Cauliflower Sandwich

Chick-fil-A is turning the tables with their latest addition to the menu, the Cauliflower Sandwich.

This is the first time the fast-food giant has ever introduced a plant-forward entree. And unlike other plant-based meat substitutes, such as KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken or Burger King’s Impossible Whopper, the Cauliflower Sandwich fully embraces the whole plant. The recipe was crafted by senior lead culinary developer Stuart Tracy, who brought his fine dining background to the table and created a plant-based sandwich that still tastes like Chick-fil-A.

The Cauliflower Sandwich is almost indistinguishable from the real Chicken Sandwich.

Vegan fans should be aware that although it’s plant-based, the Cauliflower Sandwich is made with cauliflower, pickles, bread, milk and eggs. Additionally, the sandwich is not gluten-free as the cauliflower breading contains gluten, but Chick-fil-A does offer gluten-free buns for those who need them.

The sandwich is currently in a testing phase, and feedback will determine if it will be rolled out nationwide.

Starting Monday, the Cauliflower Sandwich will be available in Denver, Charleston, South Carolina and the Greensboro-Triad area of North Carolina for a limited time, while supplies last. If everything goes well, it could be available nationally within the year. The starting price for the Cauliflower Sandwich is $6.59, and the pricing may vary depending on your location.
