Fowl Play: TSA Catches Florida Man Smuggling a Gun Inside Raw Chicken

In perhaps the most Florida news you’ll hear this week, a Florida man tried to smuggle a gun through airport security by placing it in a raw chicken.

On Monday, Transportation Security Administration agents at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport found a handgun wrapped in a plastic bag smuggled inside a raw chicken.

“We hate to beak it to you here, but stuffing a firearm in your holiday bird for travel is just a baste of time,” the TSA shared on Twitter.

Interestingly enough, TSA actually does allow fresh and cooked meats are permitted to be in carry-on bags and checked luggage. So if you’re hoping to get your favorite dishes through security this holiday season, here’s some tips to keep in mind:

  • Turkey should be securely packed with ice, but don’t put a gun in it.
  • Stuffing can be packed in a plastic container, but don’t put a gun in it.
  • Mashed potatoes can be in packed in a closed bag or plastic container, but don’t put a gun in it.
  • Macaroni and cheese can be in packed in a closed bag or plastic container, but don’t put a gun in it.
  • Rolls can be placed in a plastic bag, but don’t put a gun in it.
  • Pies can be placed in a plastic container, but don’t put a gun in it.

If you insist on bringing a gun, make sure it’s unloaded and locked in a hard-sided container that can be transported as checked luggage only. But definitely don’t stuff it in a chicken.
