In a tragic accident—Cirque de Solei’s first deadly one in its 30 year history—an acrobat’s wire is believed to have snapped, which sent her plummeting nearly 50 feet to her death below. During the show’s finale, many audience members reported thinking that the fall of 31-year-old Sarah Guillot-Guyard—a seven-year veteran of the Kà show and a mother of two—was planned, but performers were heard screaming shortly after as audiences were escorted out of the theater.
