The Massachusetts Supreme court will hear arguments from lawyers representing an atheist couple seeking to have the words “under God” removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. The couple, who filed the suit against a local school district anonymously on behalf of their three children, say that their kids should not be forced to use the phrase while reciting the Pledge at school, because the wording is “strongly favoring one religious class.” The American Humanist Association is representing the family, and will be arguing against the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, who will be arguing on behalf of the district.
