This week, an anonymous customer at a restaurant in Illinois gave three waitresses $5,000 each after overhearing them talk about their personal financial struggles. According to a story in the Rockford Register Star, the customer told the women, “I want you girls to take these to help with school and everything else in life. Yes, you can take it. You put that in your pocket. God sent me here to help you.” The three waitresses, each of whom are in their 20s, said that before the customer approached them with the $15,000 in checks, they had been discussing dreams about finishing college and the reality of student loan debt.
