Two protestors were arrested in Minneapolis yesterday after they managed to climb onto a catwalk inside the U.S. Bank Stadium (where the Vikings play) and hang a large banner from the ceiling. The banner—aimed at U.S. Bank—said “Divest” in large letters, along with “#NoDAPL.”
Though the Bears and Vikings continued the game on the field, fans seated below the area were temporarily moved.
Plans to build the Dakota Access Pipeline have been extremely controversial, and has sparked months of protests in North Dakota, where parts of the line were initially planned to cross through Native American land.
In a press release, one of the two protestors said, “We are here in solidarity with water protestors from Standing Rock to divest from the Dakota Access Pipeline.”
