After getting suspended from his job at NBC Nightly News for “misremembering” an incident in which he falsely claimed have been riding in a helicopter that was shot by an RPG while covering the Iraq war, Brian Williams is facing more scrutiny. The network is currently looking into more of his personal stories with a fact-checking investigation as other media outlets do their own research. Military sources told CNN it would have been impossible for him to travel with SEAL Team 6 as he has claimed (“”We do not embed journalists with any elements of that unit … bottom line—no”). Witnesses dispute his story that his Ritz-Carlton hotel became overrun with violent gangs while he was covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
There are also questions as to the changing details of a story he has told about meeting the pope as a college student.
