Elton John, Tim Tebow, Bono and Oprah Are Among 2013’s 25 Most Charitable Celebrities

The Daily Beast has put together this list of the 25 most charitable celebrities of 2013. However, they weren’t looking at who gave the most money—they calculated who gave the most of themselves to causes they are passionate about. The site looked at which celebrities were spokespeople for the most nonprofit organizations, how frequently they promoted the brands, the positive influence they had on the charity, their social media impact and several other factors to determine who was the “most charitable.”

Even though the story doesn’t look at how much the celebrities personally gave, their endorsements do add some serious cash value to the organizations. According to two Rutgers School Business professors, donors give 1.4% more to charities that have some association with celebrities. Sir Elton John, who is personally associated with 48 individual charities, topped this year’s list, followed by Angelina Jolie, Bono, Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres, Michael J. Fox, Brad Pitt and Susan Sarandon. You can go here to see the full gallery of all 25 celebrities (including Mr. Tim Tebow, who comes in at No. 23) …
