Escaped Tiger Shot After Killing a Man in Tbilisi, Georgia

Over the weekend, a flood wreaked havoc in Tbilisi, Georgia (the country, not the state), killing at least 19 people and destroying houses. The flood also tore apart the city’s zoo, releasing wild animals onto the streets. As The Washington Post explains, “Many of the wayward animals were shot. The luckier ones were recovered and returned to the zoo, including a hippopotamus subdued with a tranquilizer dart in front of a Swatch store.” On Tuesday, zoo officials announced that all the animals had been rounded up, but on Wednesday morning, an escaped tiger killed a man who was working on disaster relief.
