As Darren Aronofsky’s Noah continues to renew interest in history’s most famous ark, The Today Show recently visited a man in the Netherlands who constructed his own. Johan Huibers built this life-size replica of Noah’s ark after having a Noah-like dream about a catastrophic flood. Constructed entirely by hand from more than 14,000 trees, the ark/musuem first opened for visitors back in 2012. Even though the massive vessel isn’t sea worthy, with all of the cultural buzz about Noah’s ark, Huibers said that he will use barges to bring the ark to U.S. sometime next year so Americans can experience the boat up close.
