Guy Fieri Is Launching a Fund to Give $500 to Restaurant Workers Affected by the Pandemic

Partisan wrangling slowed down the federal stimulus check Americans will be receiving to offset some of the economic tolls of self-quarantine, but Flavortown is a benevolent dictatorship, which means its overlord can get his financial relief out in streamlined fashion. Yes, Guy Fieri is doing his level best to keep the service industry afloat by getting $500 to any restaurant worker affected by the pandemic.

Fieri is teaming up with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to create the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. The fund is raising money to give a one-time $500 grant to impacted workers. You can donate to it here and apply for relief here.

According to People Magazine, applicants need to have worked in the restaurant industry for at least 90 days, had the restaurant business be their primary source of income and have seen their wages decrease or lost their job on or after March 10. Applications will be available starting April 2.

“My entire career has been in the restaurant business,” Fieri said in the release. “From bussing tables to flambe captain to dishwasher to chef…I’ve done it all.”

“I’ve also spent the better part of the last 15 years traveling this great country meeting other folks who’ve dedicated their lives to this business and let me tell you something, they are the hardest working, most real deal workers you’ve ever met…the heartbeats of their communities,” he said. “But they need our help and with Restaurant Relief America, we can serve up some support when these restaurant employees need it most…right now.”
