After Brandon Curtis received the news that his 63-year-old father was given only months to live after a fight with lung cancer and Parkinson’s disease, he wanted to fill his dad’s final days with joy. With the help of his family, Brandon launched the “Sky Blue Pink” campaign, an effort to ask people from around the world to share encouraging messages and images of one of his dad’s favorite sites, the blue and pink sky at sunset. Before Brian’s dad passed away, they received notes, cards and images from more than 3,500 people across 100 countries—enough to cover the walls his of father’s room in his final days. Though the death of his father has been difficult, Brian told Mashable that the campaign has meant everything to his family. “It may sound silly, but with media and politics often telling us we’re all so different, it was a great reminder—that despite any real or contrived differences—we’re all people and we actually have a lot in common … People are incredible” …
