At Least 22 Refugees Died in the Aegean Sea Last Night

In the last three days, 50 individuals have died at sea while trying to get to Europe from parts of the Middle East. Last night, two boats sank in the Aegean Sea while on their way to Greece, killing at least 22. Though there are some rescue crews in the area, thousands of refugees and migrants—many of whom are fleeing violence and war in Syria and nearby countries—have been killed attempting to make the voyage. According to the International Organization for Migration, at least 3,329 have died at sea in 2015 alone.
