If you happened upon a bear in the woods, your first inclination would probably be to run in the opposite direction. But one man in North Adams, Massachusetts apparently decided to go on an ill-advised bear hunt, causing local police to issue the most practical of warnings via their Facebook page: “Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised.” After police took the man into custody, they took to Facebook to crowdsource some possible reasons for his actions. “We are still trying to figure out what his end game was. Any thoughts on what he was going to do if he did locate it? We would certainly like to hear because we have no idea.” They then suggested people simply leave bears alone or call the police department if they spot one, instead of “going all Davy Crockett.” Well that’s no fun …
