New Video Shows Police Hitting Tamir Rice’s Sister After Shooting

New footage from the scene where unarmed 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot and killed by police shows Rice’s 14-year-old sister running up minutes after he was shot, only to be knocked to the ground by police officers. She was then handcuffed and put into the back of a patrol car, about ten feet away from where her brother lay dying. The Rice family attorney, who had to sue the city to obtain access to the footage, called it “the cruelest thing I’ve ever seen.”

The footage also reveals that neither first-year officer Timothy Loehmann or his partner, Frank Garmback, attempted to offer any medical attention to Tamir Rice. About four minutes after the shooting, an FBI agent who was “in the neighborhood,” arrived and attempted to give Rice first aid, but to no avail. Paramedics arrived four minutes after, and took Rice away on a stretcher 13 minutes after his shooting. The video is about 30 minutes long, and can be viewed here
