This weekend, a businessman in Nigeria unveiled a 40-ton, 30-foot-tall marble statue of Jesus, which he claims is the largest on the African continent. Called, “Jesus de Greatest,” the massive monument sits on the grounds of a Catholic megachurch in a village in the southeastern part of the country. Gas and oil mogul Obinna Onuoha, who commissioned “de Greatest” told the news agency AFP that the idea for the statue first came to him n a dream decades ago. He hopes locals will see the white-marble statue, and “It will remind them of the importance of Jesus Christ.”
