Now Starbucks Is Going to Pay For Its Employees’ College Education

Say what you will about Starbucks, they are trying to treat their employees right. In addition to having one of the more competitive health insurance packages in the country, now Starbucks has announced a plan to pay for its employees’ college education. Yes. Any barista who works at Starbucks at least 20 hours a week will be eligible to get classes at Arizona State University at least partially paid for.

Employees with at least two years of college education will have their tuition fully paid, while employees with less than two years will still have to pay part of their tuition. “I believe it will lower attrition, it’ll increase performance, it’ll attract and retain better people,” Starbucks CEO Howard D. Schultz told The New York Times
