This unnamed Pakistani girl, her parents and younger siblings were all killed in a US drone strike that went awry. In drone jargon, they are called “bug splats”—and that’s something this massive art installation is looking to change. It was created by an art collective in Pakistan to remind the predator drone operators who see this picture that each bug splat has a name and a family. In fact, the name of the portrait is “Not a Bug Splat.”
