The AP is reporting that fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead this morning by her housekeeper in her Manhattan apartment. Police told the Associated Press that it appears that she died by suicide.
Handbags and clothing from Spade were sold in stores around the world. She and her husband, Andy Spade, launched the company in 1993, and over the years it became a household name.
