
According to several inside sources, State Senator Wendy Davis, who rose to national prominence after conducting an 11-hour filibuster in an effort to block legislation restricting abortion in the state, is going to run for governor of Texas. The measure that she was attempting to stop was ultimately passed in a special session called by outgoing Gov. Rick Perry, but the attempt to prevent Texas’ 20-week abortion ban thrust her into the national spotlight.
