The owner of P.B. Jams in Oklahoma noticed that someone had been going in the dumpster behind her restaurant to find scraps of food, and decided to do something about it: She left a note and offered them a meal on the house. Ashley Jiron told KFOR, “It hurt me that someone had to do that.” The note read, “To the person going through our trash for their next meal, you’re a human being and worth more than a meal from the dumpster. Please come in during business hours for a classic Pb&j, fresh veggies and a cup of water at no charge.
