Take THAT Pornographers: Instagram Has Banned Pornhub’s Second Account

Instagram has shut down another Pornhub account after the adult content site tried to evade its ban from the social media platform.

On Oct. 18, Pornhub tweeted, “We are BACK on Instagram with our new official account : p.hub.forever 🖤🧡”.

By Oct. 26, the account had been removed.

Back in September, Instagram shut down Pornhub’s first account, which at the time had had 13.1 million followers and more than 6,200 posts. A spokesperson for Meta, Instagram’s parent company, said that the account was removed because it had repeatedly violated Instagram’s community guidelines, including a ban on sexual solicitation, over the course of more than 10 years.

Advocates for the ban argued that Pornhub’s Instagram account “directly promoted pornography” and featured content encouraging people to pursue a career in pornography. Dawn Hawkins, CEO of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, spoke with Variety about the ban and shared her appreciation for Instagram taking a stand.

“Instagram is courageously choosing to stop partnering with Pornhub, and it is time for all corporate entities to follow its example,” Hawkins said.
