
Air travel may one day look very different. The UK tech company Centre for Process Innovation has released some images of what they hope will soon replace windows onboard commercial aircraft: Massive, hi-def, OLED screens that show passengers inside the planes what’s happening outside. And because the images inside are digital projections, pesky view obstructions like wings, engines or airplane parts would not be viewable. Other than looking awesome, the screens also have an practical purpose. They are made of super lightweight material that would allow individual seats to be wider and reduce the weight of the plane, dramatically lowering fuel costs.
