If you’ve ever wanted to be able to watch the Northern Lights in the comfort of a warm bed, here is your chance.
Iceland’s The 5 Million Star Hotel (side note: that is a great hotel name) has constructed transparent bubble rooms, where guest can sleep outdoors (sort of) and experience the majesty of winter without actually getting cold.
As the hotel’s founder explained to Thrillist, the idea came from real travelers looking for a unique hotel experience: “The customers asked me on the phone, with a somewhat freezing voice, ‘Robert, Robert this is so crazy. I’m freezing to dead here … Don’t you know of some hotel around here where I can just lay in my warm bed and have a glass roof so I can watch the northern lights’?”
From there, the idea for the bubble rooms was born.
“Rooms” start at about $250 a night.
