Three Muslim college students in Chapel Hill, North Carolina were killed last night by a 46-year-old man who has been charged with three counts of first degree murder. The three young victims—turned himself in shortly after the murders. Though police have not released a motive for the crime, online postings by Hicks related to “anti-theism” have led some on social media to speculate that it was possibly a hate crime. Many of the postings on Facebook pages belonging to Hicks contained images and comments that opposed religion, including a recent one that read, “When it comes to insults, your religion started this, not me. If your religion kept its big mouth shut, so would I.” Since the murders last night, a campaign has begun for people to donate “Project: Refuge Smiles,” a project being led by one of the victims who was passionate about providing dental care to those in need …
