Twitter is in hot water yet again, this time for turning HQ offices into… bedrooms?
San Francisco Mayor London Breed has launched an investigation into offices that have been converted into bedrooms at Twitter’s headquarters. The city’s Department of Building Inspections is looking into potential violations of the building code, according to local reports.
Musk, never one to hold his tongue, shared his frustration with the investigation on Twitter, arguing that the city should be focusing on protecting children from the consequences of opioid drug misuse instead of attacking companies that provide bedrooms for “tired employees.”
So city of SF attacks companies providing beds for tired employees instead of making sure kids are safe from fentanyl. Where are your priorities @LondonBreed!?https://t.co/M7QJWP7u0N

The office transformation seemingly took place after Musk sent an email to twitter staff demanding they commit to long hours or leave. In a now deleted tweet, Musk posted that even he would work and sleep in the office “until the org is fixed.”
Forbes reported that the bedrooms at the company’s recently depopulated headquarters included “bright orange carpeting, a wooden bedside table and what appears to be a queen bed, replete with a table lamp and two office armchairs.”
Department of Building Inspection official Patrick Hannan told the San Francisco Chronicle that they investigate all complaints and there are different rules for residential buildings, even those used for short-term stays. Bloomberg has reported that if the San Francisco mayor’s office and Twitter can’t reconcile their strife, Twitter HQ may need to relocate.
