Get ready to “watch mor chikin.”
According to Deadline, Chick-Fil-A is “aggressively” entering the entertainment space by creating its own streaming platform for new, original content that is expected to launch later this year.
The fast food chain has been working with major production companies to create a slate of family-friendly shows, mostly unscripted. Currently, the line-up includes a family-friendly game show from Glassman Media, the company behind NBC’s The Wall, and Sugar23, which is behind series such as Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. Scripted and animated projects are also in the works.
It’s not completely odd for Chick-Fil-A to enter into the entertainment industry. The company has previously produced content for its own site, including Stories of Evergreen Hills, a series of short, animated films. Additionally, the Cathy family, Chick-Fil-A’s founders, helped create Trilith Studios, a 700-acre TV and film lot located south of Atlanta. The studio has been utilized in dozens of (mostly Marvel) films, including Avengers: Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and reality competition series like Family Feud and I Can See Your Voice.
Perhaps this will be a new era for American corporations, where food and entertainment finally become one.
