Waitress Fired for Refusing to Pay for Dine-and-Dashing Costumers

This doesn’t sit well. Suzanne Parratt is a waitress at a Manhattan restaurant called the Pig B Whistle—or, she was, until last Tuesday, when three guys she was waiting on took off without paying their $96 bill. That was bad enough, but then Parratt’s manager informed her that she and her co-workers would have to cover the tab. She refused and, she says, was subsequently fired, despite having no other complaints ever made about her work at the restaurant. “I was on time, I did all of my work, I covered for coworkers, I assisted every way I could,” she told Gothamist. “I stayed past my shift endings to help accommodate guest volume if it were particularly busy. I never once called out, I never had one guest complaint. I would help every table if needed, regardless of it were mine, because we split tips there.” After taking her tale to Reddit, she’s planning legal action against the restaurant for unlawful termination …
