Sub Pop CD pack contest

Sub Pop CD pack contest

some weekend fun.

So who wants some free CDs from Sub Pop Records? Well whoever doesn’t is silly, because I have these five albums waiting to be mailed to YOU if you want them (and if you get a little bit lucky). They represent some of Sub Pop’s best releases of the past year or so:

Iron and WineThe Shepherd’s Dog
Biblically-minded, intricate neo-folk. Sam Beam has a great beard.

The ShinsWincing the Night Away
They’re the best part of the movie Garden State. This was one of the highest-selling indie records of all time.

The Album LeafInto the Blue Again
Instrumental music appropriate to the current state of the year. Cinematic and gorgeous.

The BrunettesStructure and Cosmetics
pop music. What else could one ask for?

DntelDumb Luck
The better half of the Postal Service (the electronic part). This album features appearances by Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley) and Grizzly Bear.

If you’d like to win these five albums right here, right now, just comment with your three ALL-TIME favorite Sub Pop bands ever in a single post (1 being your most favorite). Whoever matches (or comes closest) to MY three favorites will get the prize. and then you’d have some early Christmas shopping taken care of, or, some great new music to listen to, or, just the thrill of winning a Sub Pop prize package from the ReleBlog!

To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of a bunch of bands that either have been, or currently are on Sub Pop:

the shins
iron and wine
soundgarden
the postal service
band of horses
the album leaf
jeremy enigk
nirvana
low
damien jurado
hot hot heat
sleater kinney
wolf parade
rosie thomas
sunny day real estate

there are others here.

So… what are your favorites? top 3!
