By now, you’ve surely heard that all your hopes and dreams are coming true and Christian entertainment titan Pure Flix has made a Christian soap opera. It’s called Hilton Head Island and it’s going to stars the likes of Donna Mills (General Hospital), Michael Swan (Dinocroc vs. Supergator) and Antonio Sabato Jr. (speaker at last year’s Republican National Convention).
But, why stop at one? Surely there’s a market out there for more than one Christian soap opera. And you know, we’ve got a few ideas rattling around to get them started.
The Waiting Game
Purity pledges are put to the test when a singles ministry outing crash lands on an abandoned tropical island. 20 eligible singles. One exotic beach. No ordained wedding officiant in sight.
Malibu Rapture
Following the Rapture, a group of converted, curiously attractive thirtysomethings must avoid getting their hands or foreheads imprinted with the mark of the beast—and also avoid getting their hearts broken by each other—while attempting to survive the Tribulation in a post-apocalyptic Malibu.
A Time to Love
Kevin Sorbo plays a widowed megachurch pastor caught in a social media firestorm after announcing a courtship to recently converted pop-star, Daphne Delafonte. Is their love real, or simply a play to get back on the top charts?
The Long Mission
A group of teens on a mission trip go to Mexico, but they’ve got a lot more than just God’s love on their minds. Far from home, both spiritual and emotional (though not physical) sparks are bound to fly. Candace Cameron-Bure stars.
Days Of Our LifeWay
A LifeWay manager finds his new, beautiful and single employee secretly reading banned Rachel Held Evans books. What will he do when forced to decide between his convictions and his heart? A tale of both forbidden romance and forbidden theology.
Colorado Springs Eternal
Don’t focus on this family of churchgoing oil tycoons too hard. You might not like what you find. (To be fair, it’s a Christian soap opera, so it’s really nothing that exciting.)
The Bold in the Bible School
Torrid tales of dress code violations, curfew breaking and handholding in the Bible Belt’s most conservative Baptist Seminary.
The Young and the Selfless
Having the heart of a servant is important when you’re a church camp leader. But for these church camp leaders — between all the long, romantic paddle boat rides and sultry bellyflop competitions — servanthood is just the first step.
