Billy Graham’s granddaughter Jerushah Armfield blasted evangelicals on Twitter yesterday, saying: “All you’re really interested in doing is making a God in your own ivory image and demanding that the world bow down to it.”
Armfield was riffing off an article by John Pavlovitz that took the form of a letter to white evangelicals. Pavlovitz called out the demographic for supporting President Trump during what he called the President’s numerous moral failings. He also juxtaposed the reception of the President against former President Obama, asking the people when they offered up prayers for Obama’s family or welcomed him into their institutions.
They see that all you’re really interested in doing is making a God in your own ivory image and demanding that the world bow down to it.
You’ve lost any moral high ground or spiritual authority with a generation.⁰You’ve lost the plot. https://t.co/lZEEomvtYn— jerushah armfield (@jerushahruth) February 26, 2018
Armfield, for her part, also has a history of accusations against the white evangelical community. “You’ve lost any moral high ground or spiritual authority with a generation. You’ve lost the plot,” she wrote.
