A recent conference at Wheaton College examined the legacy of its most famous graduate, the Reverend Billy Graham, with some sobering results. According to the Christian Examiner, Duke Divinity School’s Grant Wacker says that, at a recent lecture at Trinity College, only one student had even heard of Graham (and that student thought he was a professional wrestler.) “His story,” Wacker said of Graham, who will turn 95 this year, “is rapidly receding into the mists of history.” It’s a fate few would have thought possible of Reverend Graham, who was the evangelical church’s most prominent figure for over five decades, with his once-famed crusades commanding something like 210 million people.
