The makers of widely used Bible app YouVersion have announced the most-read Bible verse of 2019. And, given the state of world affairs, it’s not a huge surprise that it’s about overcoming worry.
The verse is Phillippians 4:6 which reads, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
YouVersion Founder Bobby Gruenewald explained in a press release, “Our desire is to help people grow in their relationship with God by encouraging them to read the Bible and seek Him every day. We’re encouraged to see so many people turning to the Bible in response to their worries, remembering what God has done in their lives, and choosing to trust in His faithfulness.”
It was a big year for the app. According to their press release, “YouVersion saw 5.6 billion chapters listened to and 35.6 billion chapters read in 2019.”
