A megachurch pastor in Chicago wanted to see how his congregation would react to a person who appeared to be homeless sitting outside on a Sunday morning.
James McDonald later showed a video of the number of people who actually stopped to bring him food, prayed for him, invited him inside and gave him money.
Other pastors have done similar “experiments” in the past, and it’s safe to assume not everyone will agree with the method. But, beyond what it says about the compassion of members of Harvest Bible Chapel–many of whom stopped to help the disguised pastor– it hopefully serves as a reminder about Christians’ call to serve those in need, provide for the poor and treat everyone—no matter their economic level—with dignity, respect and compassion.
