House Speaker John Boehner would like for Pope Francis to meet with American lawmakers. Boehner has invited the pope to speak to the Congress and deliver a message about the importance of the “protection of the most vulnerable among us-the ailing, the disadvantaged, the unemployed, the impoverished, the unborn.” Boehner added, “His social teachings, rooted in ‘the joy of the gospel,’ have prompted careful reflection and vigorous dialogue among people of all ideologies and religious views in the United States and throughout a rapidly changing world, particularly among those who champion human dignity, freedom, and social justice.” Though no formal plans have been announced, according to Buzzfeed, the pope is reportedly planning to visit the United States next year …
