After a social media hiatus, Bible teacher Beth Moore returned to Twitter with some reflections on the toxicity of social media culture and the necessity for Christian “civility.” Moore wrote a short thread about humility and self-control, quoting the famous passage from James about taming one’s tongue (James 3).

“We’re just not better than anybody else,” she said in one tweet. “That’s the long & short of it. That person you keep looking down on, you will soon be looking up to. That thing you swore you’d never do, you could out-do before the month is up. God is disturbingly devoted to the humility of His servants.”
