For the past eight years, the team behind RELEVANT magazine has sought to serve emerging church leaders through publications, books and resources—and for the last few years, we have done so through Neue. From the magazine, to the podcast to the website to this newsletter, we have sought to challenge the status quo and push ministry leaders to ask the tough questions behind their motivations and actions.
Through the voices of respected leaders and innovative newcomers, Neue has worked to bring communication across generations as we dream together for the future of the Church. And in profiles of influential leaders like Scott Wilson, Rick Warren, Francis Chan and even former Mexican president Vicente Fox, we have highlighted innovative leadership happening inside and outside the Church.
At RELEVANT, we are interested in the future of the Church—in how the unprecedented access to technology, globalization and shifting cultural perspectives today will affect tomorrow’s Christian community. And since we’re an independent media company with an affinity for innovation, we’re always looking at what’s coming, what’s emerging and what’s changing—and how that affects the way we shape our media to have the greatest impact for our mission, for our readers and for those who partner with us.
Through the years, we’ve gotten very positive feedback from Neue’s readers, and we’re proud of what Neue has become. But to be honest, our team hasn’t felt Neue quite reached its full potential. Let me explain.
Through RELEVANT, we reach a broad national audience of passionate twenty- and thirtysomethings who, because of their faith, want to change the world they live in. We cover the ideas and things relevant to their lives, whether it be faith, culture or intentional living.
With Neue, we talk to emerging church leaders. And while that is important, it’s disconnected from RELEVANT’s worldview of holistic change through culture-shaping, social justice and the Church. So, we’re excited to tell you about a new chapter for Neue.
Neue is evolving to become Next.
Instead of only focusing on church leaders, Next will talk to all of the leaders within the ever-growing RELEVANT audience. In addition to church leadership, Next will talk about creative innovation, social entrepreneurship and more. It will profile innovators and emerging leaders breaking the mold and making a difference. It will talk about the questions and issues facing emerging leaders, sometimes mentoring them, sometimes inspiring them and always challenging them to chase God’s call on their lives to shape the future.
And most exciting for us, Next will be part of RELEVANT. Next will be a branded section of content inside each issue of RELEVANT (you’ll find the first of these sections in the May/June issue of RELEVANT), as well as a robust part of the new RELEVANTmagazine.com that’s in development now. We’ll be producing a robust amount of daily content online and significantly increasing our reach to all types of Christians in influential positions—those who are shaping culture.
We greatly appreciate the readers like you who have partnered with Neue through the years, and we are excited about this new direction of reaching a broader range of leaders within the RELEVANT audience. We feel Next will give you a wider breadth of content and will broaden the perspective of missional living and vocational living outside the traditional roles of church ministry.
This will be your final “Neue” newsletter. For the summer, we will be ceasing publication of this newsletter, but in the fall we will resume the newsletter as “Next” with brand new, updated content from the Next section of RELEVANTmagazine.com. The podcast will also go on break for the summer and resume in the fall. If you have any questions at all, please connect with us at [email protected].
We look forward to this new season and are excited about the opportunities to continue serving the leaders shaping the future of the Church—both inside and outside those traditional four walls.
