Eckhart Tolle is one of the best selling writers on spirituality today. He is one of Oprah’s priesthood, and decidedly not a follower of Jesus. I’ve read parts of his books, and did the slow read on his latest: A New Earth. I even made it required reading for my class on post-Christian evangelism. One of the exercises we did in class, to help us learn to love people who may disagree with us, was make a list of reasons why we could appreciate Eckhart’s work. Writing a book is no small task, and is almost always a labor of love. Just as Paul connected with those in Athens by appreciating their religious nature, so we can appreciate the emerging spiritual leaders of a world hungry for God. Below is my ‘Top 10 List’– which would shape my thoughts and feelings towards Mr. Tolle, should we ever meet on a plane.
Here’s to you, Eckhart!
