Vatican Opposes U.N. Declaration

Pope Benedict XVI surprised many people this week by saying the Vatican would oppose a U.N. declaration calling for an end to discrimination against homosexuals. While it may not be shocking for the Catholic Church to take a stance against homosexuality, this particular declaration condemns the punishment of homosexuality as a crime.
