The controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright returned to the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago on Sunday for the first time since his retirement last spring. Wright preached three services at the church, and lambasted the media. During the presidential campaign, Wright came under intense media scrutiny as the pastor of now President-elect Barack Obama. Wright’s fiery sermons on American politics drew criticism for being un-patriotic. The reverend addressed the public reaction to his sermons on Sunday, saying, “Any preacher who dares to point out the simple ugly facts found in every field imaginable is demonized as volatile, controversial, incendiary, inflammatory, anti-American and radical.”
